I thought Peacemaker season one was great.

Even the character of Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad was fantastic. If you don’t know who the superhero/villain is, the code he lives by is “I cherish peace with all my heart. I don’t care how many men, women and children I need to kill to get it”.

Once John Cena muttered those words, I was sold.

Naturally, I was going to watch Peacemaker season two. Eventually.

The thing is, Peacemaker season two took a few episodes to warm up. That said, the music was brilliant. I loved some of the action scenes, especially with Peacemaker’s pet eagle, Eagly. Tim Meadows was also hilarious in every single scene.

My issue was that I had no idea where the story was going. At times, it felt like the plot was stalling. There were a few reveals here and there, but it didn’t feel like anything was driving things forward.

About halfway through, it began to ramp up and the show was onto something. In a nutshell, Peacemaker has a gizmo that can open infinite portals to other dimensions. He ends up in one he likes and decides he wants to stay. There’s a lot more to the story, but I don’t want to spoil it, especially if you haven’t watched season one.

Considering my backlog of TV shows, movies and everything else, I wouldn’t normally give a show half a season to get good. As you’ll find out in the coming weeks, I almost gave up on Fallout season 2 multiple times. Peacemaker felt different because I was laughing for the majority of the show. I like to laugh.

I also loved the music choices. Peacemaker is a rock fan, as is the creator James Gunn. If you like the tunes from his other movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, you’ll love this too. Gunn also knows how to shoot action, and Peacemaker season two delivers plenty of it. Like The Suicide Squad, it’s R-rated. The nudity might have also contributed to the rating.

Peacemaker season two’s ending sticks the landing. Everything was pretty much wrapped up, with a few loose ends they could follow up or leave behind. Season three hasn’t been confirmed yet. James Gunn is pretty busy running the DCU, so we’ll have to wait and see if more episodes are coming.

If you loved Peacemaker season one, I think you’ll enjoy season two. I wouldn’t say it’s bigger and better than the first season. It’s just a decent follow-up. If you haven’t seen either, jump into season one first. At least check out the incredible opening credits that you’ll never want to skip.
